AMD has postponed the release of their latest desktop processors, the Ryzen 9000 Series, to August. Known as Granite Ridge, these desktop processors were initially scheduled to launch at the end of July.
This decision follows the discovery of some samples that did not meet the standard quality requirements during the quality control phase.
Reason Why AMD Delayed the Ryzen 9000 Series Launch
AMD stated that this delay is to ensure better quality control. They have contacted their production partners to enhance the quality of these processors.
This step is taken to ensure that future users of the Ryzen 9000 Series desktop processors receive units of the highest quality, free from defects.
The Ryzen 9000 Series processors use AMD’s latest microarchitecture, Zen 5. The series includes four different SKUs: Ryzen 9 9950X, Ryzen 9 9900X, Ryzen 7 9700X, and Ryzen 5 9600X.
AMD has confirmed the exact launch dates for the processors. The Ryzen 7 9700X and Ryzen 5 9600X will be available starting August 8. Higher-end variants, like the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X, will be available from August 15.
Pricing leaks have already circulated, with the Ryzen 5 9600X starting at $229 and the Ryzen 9 9950X priced at $499. So, let’s look forward to their arrival!
